Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) Advanced Training

This course is intended to prepare the students to take and pass the MRSE Examination administered through American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS).

Description

The American College of Radiology (ACR) established standards for MRI safety in the medical field, forming a Blue-Ribbon Panel on Magnetic Resonance Safety to address rising safety concerns associated with MRI equipment. MRI equipment often leads to misunderstandings among medical personnel. To manage MRI facilities effectively, many medical centers now employ Magnetic Resonance Safety Officers (MRSOs), Magnetic Resonance Safety Experts (MRSEs), and Magnetic Resonance Medical Directors (MRMDs).

In the Advanced Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert Course, you will learn:

  • MRI Basics and Physics
  • Infection Control
  • Cryogen
  • Handling Patients
  • Quenching
  • Maintenance and Inspections
  • Static Magnetic Fields
  • Magnetic Flux
  • Time-Varying Magnetic Fields
  • Time-Varying RF
  • Time-Varying Gradient Field
  • Implanted Devices

Benefits of Taking This Course:

  • Complete MRSE Exam Preparation: The course covers all material needed to pass the MRSE exam. Developed by a board-certified MRSE with over 10 years of experience in medical safety training, it offers comprehensive preparation.
  • Certification: Earn official TITAN University certification after passing with a score of 70% or higher, demonstrating advanced knowledge in MRSE.
  • Flexible Learning: Take breaks and progress at your own pace.
  • Support: Have questions? Reach out on the Contact Us page, and we’ll provide prompt answers.

What is a Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO)?

A Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) is responsible for enforcing MRI safety policies and ensuring compliance with safety standards. MRSOs play a critical role in managing MRI facilities and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

What is the MRSE Exam Pass Rate?

The MRSE exam consists of 100 multiple-choice and true/false questions from an ABMRS question bank. The difficulty level affects passing rates, which vary from person to person.

Will I Receive MRSE Certification from ABMRS?

This course prepares you for the MRSE exam administered by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). ABMRS conducts the exam, but we provide the training. The exam features 100 questions to be completed in 3 hours.

Can I Take an MRSE Practice Exam?

Yes, practice exams are available on our website. They simulate the real ABMRS exam questions to help you prepare.

Is This Course an MRSE Prep Course?

Yes, this course will educate and prepare you to take the MRSE exam administered by ABMRS.

What are MRI Safety Precautions?

Magnetic Resonance Safety Officers (MRSOs) must understand not only magnetic fields but also electric fields and helium quenching. MRI suite designs must ensure that magnetic fields do not interfere with each other, which can damage equipment and pose risks to personnel. The MRSO, MRSE, and MRMD certifications address these concerns.

What is the Purpose of the ABMRS MRSE Exam?

The ABMRS aims to ensure MRI operations are safe and to prevent harm to personnel, patients, or property. This independent organization certifies MRSEs to promote MRI safety awareness in the workforce.

Is There an MRSE Study Guide?

The course includes a comprehensive study guide for the MRSE exam. Download it upon enrollment.

What Metal is MRI Safe?

Metals without magnetic properties are generally safe around MRIs. Pure titanium, gold, and sterling silver are examples of MRI-safe metals. Most medical facilities still restrict metal near MRI zones for safety.

What are the Four MRI Safety Zones?

  • Zone 1: General public area outside the MRI environment.
  • Zone 2: Area between the general public area and the MRI control room, often a waiting area or lobby.
  • Zone 3: Restricted area, usually the control room between the MRI suite lobby and the MRI room.
  • Zone 4: The magnet room, the highest safety zone where only authorized personnel and the patient are present during scanning.

Good Topic for any SSHO

Good course, great info! Easy to follow along and very basic. I would have like to see more detail about the root cause analysis investigation, I think that would be helpful information for junior SSHO's.
